5 Updates To Make To Your Home This Summer
Summer is right around the corner and it’s the perfect time to start changing your home’s interior to match the season. Updates don’t have to be expensive, but making a few small changes can give your home a completely new and refreshing look. Make these five minor updates to your homes interior to revitalize it for summer with a brighter, softer look.

Eliminate Some Brown

Eliminate Some Brown
Brown is a dominating color in many homes because it is neutral and goes with almost anything, but too much of it makes the room look dark and gloomy. Try swapping out a few of your brown items for other neutral colors from The Century House such as khaki, gray or an olive green.

Bring The Outside Inside

Bring some of the outdoors in with colors such as blue to represent the sky or a sandy rug to give the feeling of being outside without actually being outside. Add a vase or two with flowers that complement the colors of the room to complete the look.

Throw Pillows

Throw Pillows
Throw pillows can add a bit of color and flair to any space, but too many can be overwhelming and make it hard to organize in an aesthetically pleasing way. Try using three different pillow sizes that can be arranged any way you like and still look presentable. Typically a 20×20, a 16×16 and 12×16 throw pillow combination will work regardless of how you arrange them. The varying sizes add style without making your couch look cluttered.

Metals

Brass Accent Tables
Metal accents, especially brass, are the new trend this summer and are easy to add to any decorative scheme. Replace knobs on stands and dressers to give a nautical and summery feel to the room. Other options include accent pieces in brass, lamps or mirrors. Contrast the look of the metal with wood or marble for a rustic look.

Rugs And Accents

Open floor plans create a socialized space where everyone can interact, but transitions between these spaces contribute significantly to the overall look. Add an accent color that works with the overall look and add rugs or decorations to transition from one room to the next. A more permanent option is to modify the flooring in between rooms.

Don’t let your home remain dated while summer is on its way in full force. Implement a few changes to the interior and you’ll have a refreshing look to head into the season with. Keep your home trendy without breaking your wallet.
