Organized Garage Design

You may have noticed that garages in the movies are generally spotless and exceptionally well –organized. This is probably a sharp contrast to your garage, but you do live in the real world.

In fact, most garages are not used to store cars; they are used to store various other things, including furniture, memorabilia, and even the Christmas decorations.

Of course, the fact that it’s inconvenient to park a car in a garage doesn’t help. After all, who wants to get out of the car on a wet and cold night to open a garage door before parking?

The good news is you can easily create an organized, attractive, and useful garage, whether you put your car in or not. Here are 5 useful tips to achieve your goal:

  1. Get A Carport

Unless you live in a high crime area or have a particularly expensive car, you don’t need to keep it in your garage; that’s why you probably don’t.

To solidify this decision but still give your car protection from the elements and easy access, invest in a quality double carport. Doubles are better as they give you room to move around them and protect you from the elements as you get in and out of your car.

Adding a carport frees the garage to be used for other things.

  1. De-Clutter

You’ve probably got a lot of stuff that you don’t really need to be sat in your garage. It’s time to seriously de-clutter. If you haven’t used it within the last year and it’s not got sentimental value, you need to recycle it.

You’ll be surprised at how much stuff you can get rid of and will never miss.

What’s left will either need to be stored in the garage or somewhere else in the house.

If you’re not the type who can easily let go of materials in your home, it would be a great idea to repurpose them so you can have a new and better use of these items that have long been collecting dust in your garage.

  1. Storage Cupboards

Your next step is to build storage cupboards against the walls or invest in some ready-made ones. These provide you with shelves to store the stuff your keeping. You can also keep tools and other useful items in these cupboards. This will make them easy to access when you need them.

One great item you may also use is the Prolock access-controlled locker, a state-of-the-art locker with your choice of 12 to 24 doors that could hold a variety of items you need to organize in your garage. You may use the compartments to store tools and other essential items you may need for crafting, or any hobby you may be completing in your garage.

  1. Look At The Floor

The floor is often overlooked and is probably concrete. It’s time to pause and really look at it. In many cases, a little concrete in the dips and cracks will have it looking like new. You can then paint it and the garage walls to make it look like a room itself.

This doesn’t just give it an identity and make it look attractive; it forces you to see it as a room instead of a dumping ground.

If repainting isn’t an option, you can tile or even use epoxy flooring.

The floor plays an essential part in the aesthetic of your garage, and if you give it a fresh take, you may enjoy the ambiance in the area. You may even consider it as a lounge spot on most days, especially if you follow the first suggestion of getting a carport.

  1. Consider The Functionality

Finally, before you finish your stylish garage, you’ll want to spend a few moments considering what you’re actually going to use it for. It may be time to replace the garage door and seal up the gaps to make it better insulated, or even eliminate the door!

If your home is lacking space, your garage can serve a different purpose. It’s up to you how you want to transform it. Maybe you need an extra workstation or a fitness room. You may need a study room for your homeschooling kids. No one but your family can see it, so you won’t be judged. Do with it whatever you see fit. It’s your home and your rules.

Knowing what you want to do in the garage will make it easier to create the perfect garage space.
