Laminated Floors

Laminated floors are the closest to the real thing as it stimulates wood, stone, and other natural finishes and is cheaper and more durable. But like all other floors like vinyl, parquet, and many others, it needs more care and proper maintenance to keep its surface glowing for an extended period. Only the best sponge mops together with the right cleaning agents are used in the process.

The laminated floor is the combination of fiberboard and material fused with melamine resin and provided with a photographic appliqué layer under a clear and equally hard topcoat. To ease installation, each HDF plank is outfitted with an interlocking tongue and groove, which is cut to precision to improve joint appearance. Joint laminate planks float over the structural floor, not directly attached under a foam film underlay, which serves as butter and moisture protection. The HDF laminate floor is durable and can resist floor traffic but is sensitive to moisture and water.

Thus, due to the nature of the HDF board, only compatible laminate floor cleaner can be used, and the solution must not be allowed to stay over the floor surface for some time. Cleaning agents that are left to remain over the floor and not cleaned by the best sponge mop soak the HDF material and cause it to blister, swell or wrap, leaving unsightly damage on the floor surface. Here are some of the helpful tips to clean laminated floors without damaging the surface finish.

  1. Sweep the floor with some loose material, especially the corners and wall edges where concentration is expected to be high. Use a clean, dry dust mop.
  2. Add half a cup of cleanser or vinegar into the bucket of warm water and stir it thoroughly.
  3. Dip the best sponge mop into the bucket with a solution; be sure that you squeeze excess water out of it before placing it on the floor.
  4. Dry and clean the floors with soft towels.
