The 3 Houses You Should Own In Your Lifetime

Buying a house is a big move in every person’s life. Not every person wants or needs to buy a home, but for those that do, the decision can be a great idea. Some people own only one house in their lives, but most people who buy a house end up buying more than one over the years. You’re of course allowed to buy whatever you want, but for your growth and experience, we think that you should buy these three houses during your adult lifetime.

  1. The Fixer Upper

Best Carpentry

This is one of the classic situations that many people find themselves in. It can be a difficult or even negative experience, or it can be one of the best decisions of your life. Fixer-uppers teach people important skills, like simple carpentry, drywall, and tiling. You may not think you want to know these things (and you may be right), but they’re an excellent way to learn how to own a home without going broke from paying contractors to do the work for you. This will help you be a better homeowner in every house you own for the rest of your life.

  1. The One You Build Yourself

Building Your Own House

Building your own house is an incredible experience. You can be your general contractor if you want to, but you could just as easily hire one to do that big job for you. In either case, you’ll need new build insurance to cover problems that sometimes crop up in brand new construction. Building your own home can be expensive, but it’s often cheaper with the right planning than buying an existing home. Your self-built home can also be designed exactly according to your specifications. You may not be able to afford a true dream home at this point in life, but it’s a step in the right direction.

  1. The Dream Home

Dream Home

Sooner or later, everybody needs to buy their own dream home, if it’s within reason. Your dream home is the culmination of every housing experience you’ve ever had. It has comforts and integrity unique to your tastes and needs. What’s more, a dream home doesn’t have to be incredibly expensive. You could choose to build your own, using skills you’ve gained from the previous two steps, or you could check the regional market until you find something that’s exactly like what you’re looking for. Having your dream home can make you feel like you’ve “arrived.” And in many ways, you have. Where else would you want to be except the place that you’ve been dreaming about?

If you buy a home even once in your life, you are very likely to buy more. You may not own these houses at the same time (though that’s allowed). If you get the house buying bug, you should think about owning all three of these houses in your lifetime. They’ll give you a lot of great experiences and enjoyment. You’ll get a lot of equity too.
