Diwali is Hinduism’s most popular festival; the five days of Diwali are celebrated with colors, lights, sweets, and decorations. This festival plays an essential role in our lives. Millions of Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains across the world celebrate Diwali. It is celebrated in honor of God Ram, who returned to his palace after 14 years of exile. During these 14 years, he fought and won a battle against the demon’s king Ravana as we all know the rituals and story behind the Diwali.
However, we are going to discuss in this article five things that we Indians love to do on Diwali.
Cleaning Home From Inside And Outside
Cleaning is an everyday chore, but on Diwali, we do complete home cleaning, cleaning old vessels, rug cleaning, window cleaning, throwing out unnecessary stuff, dusting, and removing spider webs from the highest and deepest parts of the home. After finishing the complete cleaning from inside, we start cleaning outside, water tank, garden care, and work on outdoor cleaning.
Painting
Every home expects a new look, and that’s why we Indian prefers to paint a house with our favorite color to make a home look like a festive home.
Implant New Furniture Or Interior
Many of us like to replace old furniture or old interior look. They implant new pieces of interior and exterior furniture and also take advantage of festival furniture offers. They get great deals on new stuff and save money too.
Decorate Home With Lights and Colors
Decorating is one of the essential parts of the Diwali festival. We adorn the entire home with LED lights, standard lights, and Diya and make the house shining and bright. Of course, color also plays a vital role in decoration. We decorate the home entrance with a beautiful Rangoli design. Many people use colors, flowers, and Diya, all together at the door. We believe that Goddess Laxmi comes to our home on Diwali days. And bless us with lots of money and happiness.
Sweets And Gifts Sharing
We prepare many popular dishes for our home during this festive season, such as Goan never (karanji), Kaju katli, Rava kheer, chocolate gujiya, badam halwa & barfis, shahi tukda, Mohan thal, patishapta, Mysore paak, chawal ki kheer and many more. Our elders give blessings and gifts to other family members. We also share sweets with our neighbors and wish them Happy Diwali.
Conclusion
