In many neighborhoods around the country, homes were built in a similar style with only relatively minor differences between them. For those who like to stand out from the crowd, or at least express a little individuality, the good news is that there are some small changes that can make a huge difference in the appearance of a home.

Choosing a bright color for the front door can make a significant difference in the appearance of a home. For an even more substantial change, the door itself can be replaced. Many development homes were built with inexpensive doors of a similar design. Adding a quality replacement door or storm door is another option for changing the appearance of a home and helping it to stand out from the homes around it. Though more expensive than just painting, a door replacement project can be easily completed in one day.

Other custom products that homeowners can find available commercially include grill covers, mail boxes and concrete stamps for use on sidewalks and driveways.

Though they are the most expensive option, copper gutters are a great choice for a classy upgrade. Less expensive copper finish gutters are also an option.

This means that changes in the interior entryway of the home will make a big impact on the overall impression of the home. From a simple stone tile pad to a charmingly decorated foyer, every home can have a great entryway. At a minimum, an entryway should provide space to store shoes, keys, umbrellas and other similar items to avoid the home having a cluttered feel to those coming in through the door.

A person’s home is typically his or her most visible and most valuable possession. By taking some simple steps to personalize a home, a homeowner will be adding his or her own character to the home. This added character will make the home feel more like home to the owner and will help it to stand out from the crowd for those visiting the home.
