When you apply the baking soda solution or the liquid detergent solution, make sure you do one section simultaneously but complete the mattress.
If you are the person who smokes on your mattress, then you must often do this. Also, often you need to launder your linens. This is to keep the odor from becoming pervasive.
To remove the odor, you need large cans of the Lysol spray, which you have to use one for each side and saturate the mattress with it. Let the mattress dry, and then follow up with two large bottles of Febreze. Place hypoallergenic mattress pad cover on it.
