As you walk through your home, you might notice that the paint on the walls is chipping or that the floor is merely losing its luster. You might see that there are rooms that are darker than others because of a door that has no windows or blinds that are dark in color. Take note of the issues that you see as there are a few small changes that you can make in the home that will bring vibrancy and personality. Here are just a few of the things that you can do to your home to make it look more attractive:

Decorate the Little Things

Decorate the Little Things

One cool and simple idea is to take all of the switch plates in the home and paint them in fun colors or patterns before installing them again. Because you turn the lights on and off regularly, you’ll notice a big difference in the décor. If painting is something you want to do, consider just adding wallpaper instead. Furthermore, you could change the hardware on the cabinets and the drawers to help make a significant change in the rooms around your home.

New Doors

People tend to forget about the doors in their home. They let them get old, chipped, scratched, and colored on by their children and furniture being moved around the house. If your doors are looking a little bit dinged up, replace them with new ones—such as durable NJ doors. To keep the home uniform, have all of the doors facing the hallways and common areas be the same color. However, you could be creative and paint the side of the doors that are in the inside of the bedrooms, a different color that matches those areas.

Light It Up

Having proper lighting is essential, and so you should consider doing everything you can to make the place look brighter. One idea would be to take down the lampshades, and the ceiling light covers to make the light less dim. Another idea would be to add mirrors around the home that are strategically placed to reflect the natural light coming in from the windows. As for your light bulbs, though, you should change them out for the ones that give off brighter lights. Each type of light bulb has a different brightness level.

Adding Shelves

Storage, especially in smaller homes, is an essential feature. Shelving is an excellent idea to add more storage. Thankfully, there are tons of different types of shelving. If you’re more into modern styles, for example, you might want to consider getting the cube style shelves. You can use the shelves to put picture frames and other decorative items. You can even put baskets in the cubes to make them functional storage spaces.

Changing the smallest details in the home can have the most significant impacts. You don’t have to spend a lot of money transforming the details of the house, either. Take each room one step at a time until its how you want it to look.
