Shifting a home is a daunting task. People who have done it will definitely back my saying that it is not an easy task. The whole task is emotionally and physically draining.
People these days have become smart and hire movers, but there has to be planning done.
Here are tips for shifting your home:
Make A List: you must prepare a checklist. You need to write down a list of things that need to be packed, and once packed, put a check on it. Also, it would help if you wrote down things you have to do such as pay bills such as of newspaper vendor, list of goodbyes, informing electric, telephone departments about the no usage of electricity, etc. from the day of shifting, etc. listing such task will give you confidence whether you have done it or not. You will not miss out on anything.
Plan The Move: Gradual change is better than huff and puff. Give your family time for emotional adjustment to moving to the new home. Never leave things at the last minute. Planning the timing of movers coming, the boxes you want for immediate use, and planning the time of moving so that shifting becomes easy and your truck is not in the middle of traffic.
Packing your belongings must be done with care and with proper labeling as to what box contains what. Some people shift their belongings gradually before shifting to a new house. This is also a good idea. Involve all people in packing their things such that they know what thing is where and how they have packed. Assist your kid in case they are younger.
Ensure fragile items are well packed.
Say your goodbyes to neighbors. Children are sad as they will be leaving their friends, but their new room and the new home must excite them. Talk to them if they are too sad before shifting and solving all their queries regarding the new home, new surroundings, new people, and making new friends.
The movers you hire must be reliable and a reputed company. Ask your friends who have shifted and used their service for their views.
Ensure your kitchen and bedrooms are well settled before actually shifting. This will help you immensely till the time you get completely settled.
Electricity, pipe gas, etc., must be working in a new home and shut off in the old home.
Be positive and don’t over-stress and rather enjoy the shifting procedure.
