It’s that (spooky) time of year again and, if you’re trying to sell your home, the least of your worries is vampires and goblins. Selling your home, while being a time-consuming process, doesn’t have to be a terrifying one. Fall, regardless of where you’re located in the country, is a season filled with pumpkins, Halloween festivities, and winding down after the excitement of summertime. With that in mind, there are also a handful of tips that can and will make the selling process more fun and enjoyable. Here are some tips for selling your house this Halloween.
Show Off Your House With Decorations
The best part of holidays in the United States is the opportunity to cover your home out in decorations. This Halloween season, use seasonal decor, like Jack-o’-lantern, fun lights, and spiderwebs to make your home stand out on the block. Maybe even create a themed “For Sale” sign that says “For Sale…If You Dare” or “Haunted House for Sale.”
One of the most significant decorative tips we can offer this season is to err on the side of tasteful and not tacky. Keep the Halloween decorations clean and, most importantly, kid friendly!
Haunted House Or Not So Ghosty? Either Way, Have Fun!
Do you live in a home where you’ve noticed eerie happenings, like footsteps in the night or things mysteriously moving out of place? If you’re concerned about how to sell a haunted house, we suggest having fun with it this Halloween season. During showings, tell light stories (nothing too revealing!) about the house’s past. And, even if your home hasn’t shown any signs of ghosts, you can still have fun with it in the spirit of the holiday. Similar to our tip regarding decorations, the more tasteful, the better.
Host A Party
A fun way to show off your home to the neighbors and friends is to host a party. Have people over for appetizers and cocktails, and have invitees bring guests who may be interested in purchasing a home. Maybe even organize something with your Realtor for a Halloween themed open house! Use decorations to complement the inside of your home, like some colorful garland, Halloween and fall table settings and dishes, and of course, scented candles. A Halloween open house can be a great way to show off your home and have a great time while doing so.
Get Ready For Trick-Or-Treaters
What other time of year do people walk up to your front door? While the parents of trick-or-treaters may not be house hunting, it’s still an excellent opportunity to show off your home and the fact that it’s for sale. You never know if someone is on the lookout for a home or if they know someone who is. Decorations, a clean porch and yard, and a friendly attitude can make all the difference.
